When the school day ends, the adventure begins!
Join Snails & Turkey Tails after-school nature program for curious kids ages 3–6. We spend our afternoons outside, exploring, playing, and discovering the magic all around us.
Our days might include:
- Tracking wildlife and making nature journals
- Building fairy houses, forts, and tiny worlds from sticks, leaves, and moss
- Listening for bird songs and learning their calls
- Mixing up “forest soup” with mud, petals, and pinecones
- Balancing on logs, jumping in puddles, and climbing over roots
- Collecting treasures for nature art
- Gathering for a cozy circle time to share stories, songs, and snacks
Every afternoon is guided by curiosity and imagination. Children learn through play—developing confidence, creativity, and a deep connection to the living world around them. Our classes meet weekly and are offered as monthly packages. Pick and choose your locations! Each class can accommodate up to six children. We gather rain or shine! Once you register we will reach out to you to schedule a short intake call. We strive to meet each child where they're at and we find that connecting with parents/caregivers before class helps to set everyone up for success. These calls are also a great opportunity for you to learn more about Snails & Turkey Tails.

Here are just a few of the many benefits of spending time outdoors after a busy school day -

1. Time to Unwind After School
After a busy school day, children need space to breathe, move, and relax. Outdoor play helps them release energy, reduce stress, and reset their minds in a calm, natural setting.
2. Deep Connection with Nature
Through daily exploration, children build a lifelong bond with the earth. They learn to notice the small wonders—like a snail’s trail or a mushroom’s texture—and develop care and respect for living things.
3. Social-Emotional Growth
In small, supportive groups, kids practice teamwork, communication, empathy, and problem-solving. Building a fort together or helping a friend across a log strengthens community and confidence.
4. Creativity & Imagination
Sticks become magic wands, leaves become art, and every puddle holds a story! Open-ended outdoor play sparks creativity and lets kids follow their curiosity wherever it leads.
5. Physical Development
Climbing, balancing, digging, and running support coordination, strength, and gross motor skills—all while having fun in the fresh air.
6. Curiosity & Learning Through Play
Nature is the perfect classroom! Children naturally explore science, math, and language as they count acorns, compare textures, or tell stories about what they find.
7. Sense of Belonging
Regular time outside in the same space helps children feel rooted—connected to the land, to their peers, and to themselves.
