Fall is a wonderful time to slow down, explore, and discover. At Snails & Turkey Tails, children spend five hours immersed in the natural world at China Camp - exploring trails and shoreline, looking for wildlife, building with sticks, splashing in puddles, creating with natural materials, climbing, imagining, and making new friends.

​

We don't rush children from one activity to the next.

​

We give them time to play.

​

Time to wonder.

​

Time to get muddy.

​

Time to follow a curiosity.

​

Time to turn a stick into a fishing pole, a pile of leaves into a fairy house, or a fallen log into the beginning of  an adventure.

The children and the natural environment help shape each day.

WHAT WILL WE DO?

Every day is different, but your child might:

• Explore forest trails and the shoreline

• Search for birds, bugs, shells, an other signs of wildlife

• Climb, balance, run, and move

• Build forts and creations with natural materials

• Make nature-inspired art

• Play in mud, water, sand, and earth

• Invent imaginative games and adventures

• Listen to stories and sing songs

• Observe the changing colors, textures, sounds, and smells of fall

• Make friends and build confidence through shared experiences

We welcome just 8 campers.

A small group means your child isn't lost in the crowd. Our teachers have the time to get to know each child, notice their interests, support emerging independence, and help children navigate friendships and new experiences.

​

It's a cozy little community where children can feel known, capable, and connected.

OUR APPROACH

Snails & Turkey Tails is inspired by Reggio Emilia and grounded in a simple belief:

Children are capable, curious, creative people.

​

We believe children learn through play, relationships, movement, exploration, imagination, and real experiences.

​

So you won't find worksheets, screens, step-by-step crafts, or a day packed with adult-directed activities. Instead, you'll find mud, sticks, rocks, water, stories, questions, movement, imagination, and wonder.

We call it nature play.

Children call it adventure!

WHY FALL?

Fall gives children a whole new world to explore.

Leaves change.

The forest smells different.

Rain creates puddles and muddy trails.

The shoreline reveals new treasures.

Animals leave clues behind.

And a simple walk through the woods can become an expedition.

​We don't just teach children about nature. We give them the opportunity to experience it.​

​

And because our groups are small, children have the opportunity to develop genuine relationships with their teachers and fellow campers.​ We play outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, except when conditions are unsafe. Come prepared to get muddy, get wet, climb, explore, and play!

• Comfortable clothes that can get dirty

• Layers for changing weather

• A complete change of clothes

• Sturdy close-toed shoes

• Sun or rain protection as needed
