Bundle up and join us for a magical winter adventure! Our Winter Nature Camp invites preschoolers to explore, play, and discover the wonders of the season at Lake Lagunitas in Fairfax.

Sample Activities:

  • Nature Scavenger Hunt: Search for pinecones, moss, animal tracks, and winter colors.

  • Pond Explorations: Watch ducks and other water birds as we talk about how animals stay warm in winter.

  • Storytime in the Forest: Cozy up for winter tales under the trees.

  • Building and Creating: Use sticks, leaves, and natural treasures to make tiny shelters and nature art.

  • Animal Tracking: Learn about local wildlife through tracks, scat, and signs of their presence.

  • Mindful Moments: Practice quiet listening to the sounds of wind, water, and forest life.

Benefits of Winter Outdoor Play:

  • Builds resilience and curiosity: Exploring in cooler weather helps children adapt and feel confident in all seasons.

  • Encourages observation skills: With fewer leaves and quieter trails, little ones can notice details like bark textures, bird songs, and patterns in the water.

  • Supports physical health: Fresh air, gentle movement, and sunshine boost immunity and well-being.

  • Fosters appreciation for nature: Winter in Marin County reveals a different kind of beauty — misty mornings, mushrooms, and sparkling streams!

  • Promotes calm and connection: Outdoor play helps children develop focus, creativity, and friendships through shared exploration.
