"FIVE STARS!!! Snails & Turkey Tails camp was such a positive experience for our family! My child loved all of the activities and came home with a creative new project each day. She loved climbing trees and hunting for shells. We are excited for the next camp."

Crisp morning air, wild turkeys and deer - just a few of the things that greet us each day at camp. Winter is such a magical time and as we find ourselves nestled between the bay and the oak woodland, discoveries are bountiful. Campers come together to meet new friends, share new experiences with a sibling and learn more about the wildlife, flora and fauna at China Camp. We go on daily nature hikes, make nature-inspired art, read stories, play games and practice mindfulness during our time together.

Place Based Education -

Before the Europeans came to California, the Coast Miwok people were the inhabitants of what we now call Marin and southern Sonoma Counties. They knew and blended with this bountiful land for thousands of years. Today, part of that land is known as China Camp State Park. It is nestled along the shore of the San Pablo Bay. Features include an extensive intertidal salt marsh, meadow, and oak habitats.  There is a variety of wildlife, including deer, squirrels, coyote, fox, bats, and numerous birds.  The California clapper rail and the salt marsh harvest mouse are endangered species that live in the marsh areas of the park.
