MESSY PLAY CLASSES
 AGES 6 months - 3 years old

A pinch of adventure, a sprinkle of sunshine, or rain, and a big handful of play.

Our drop-in Messy Play classes provide a full-on, sensory rich experience for children ages 6 months - 3 years old. Join us for an hour of play and be prepared to get messy! Children rotate between stations with new themes each week. Babies enjoy both wet and dry stations where they can explore taste-safe materials like rice, pasta, fruits and more while older children can explore all of the stations, including the nature kitchen.

Besides being super fun, our classes are packed with social, emotional and cognitive benefits for developing brains. Messy Play classes meet weekly for 1 hour and we meet at various locations throughout Central Marin! We love gathering outdoors but we are considering finding an indoor location for extreme weather days. We don't shy away from a little rain, in fact, young children love hunting for worms and splashing in puddles. Come dressed for the weather, bring a change of clothes,  and join us any time of year!

If you're interested in joining a class, feel free to send us a message or meet us on-site. Messy Play classes are drop-in classes and payment is due upon arrival but we do require preregistration as well. We make many of the materials ourselves and it takes a fair bit of time to set-up so we like to have an idea of how many families are planning to attend.

Benefits of Messy Play

In essence, sensory play includes play that engages any of your child’s senses. This includes touch, smell, sight, sound and taste. But it also covers movement, balance, and spatial awareness.

Nerve ConnectionsSensory play helps children build nerve connections in their brain, which can help them learn and complete more complex tasks.

Cognitive Development - Sensory play helps children develop cognitive skills, problem-solving, and the ability to complete tasks.

Language Development - Sensory play can help children expand their vocabulary by exploring new words related to their experiences.

Motor Skills - Sensory play can help children develop fine motor skills, which are important for using utensils, pencils, and other everyday items.

Social Skills - When sensory play is a group activity, children can learn to cooperate, share, take turns, and collaborate. These experiences can help children develop empathy, emotional intelligence, and social skills.

Creativity - Sensory play can help children develop creativity by engaging all their senses and giving them the freedom to work with different colors and shapes.
